TERMS OF SERVICE
ppip Terms of Service
Effective: 22 September 2026
Article 0 Community Principles (Zero Tolerance)
- ppip applies a zero tolerance policy to objectionable content and abusive behavior, including abuse, hate, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, threats, stalking, obscenity, encouragement of self-harm or crime, spam, impersonation, and exposure of another person's personal information.
- Violations may lead to content removal, restrictions or account suspension under Article 15.
- You may flag or block another user at any time. Blocking removes each person's receiver from the other's wall, and a blocked user can no longer send signals or reconnect by ID, number or invite.
- We review reports promptly and take appropriate action according to the urgency and severity of the harm.
Article 1 Purpose
These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using ppip (the "Service") provided by the operator, and the rights, obligations and responsibilities of users and the operator.
Article 2 Definitions
- Receiver: the object that hangs on a wall on your behalf. You choose its shape, color, photo and decorations.
- Wall: your screen, where your friends' receivers hang.
- Signal (ppip): the short voice messages and pages you send to a friend.
- Page: a numeric signal sent by keying in numbers on the payphone screen.
- Pager number: a ten-digit number given to each user. It is used only inside the app and does not place real phone calls.
- Payphone: the screen where you key in numbers to send a page.
- Coins: the in-app means used to send a page.
- Codebook: a list that attaches meanings to numbers.
- Group: a room for sending to several people at once.
- Voicemail: where signals collect when they are stored instead of ringing right away.
- ppip+: the paid subscription billed through the App Store or Google Play.
Article 3 Posting and Amending These Terms
- We post these Terms so that they can be read at any time within the Service. The sign-up screen opens the Terms and the Privacy Policy directly, and signing up with Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in on that screen is taken as agreement to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
- We may amend these Terms to the extent that doing so does not violate applicable law.
- When we amend these Terms, we announce the change within the Service, stating the effective date and the reason. For changes unfavorable to users, we give notice at least 30 days before the effective date.
- If you do not agree to the amended Terms, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.
Article 4 Nature of the Service
- The Service exists for exchanging short voice messages and pages between users who are connected as friends.
- The Service is not a messenger for long conversations, and it is not intended to keep a record of conversations.
- The Service is not a telephone service. A pager number does not connect voice calls or send text messages, and we do not collect your carrier phone number.
- The Service is not a means of emergency contact. In an emergency such as a fire, a crime or a medical emergency, do not rely on the Service — always use the official emergency number for your area.
Article 5 Accounts and Pager Numbers
- You can only sign up with Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in (in the Android app), and we do not collect passwords.
- Your ID is how friends find you, so it cannot be changed after you sign up. The name you want to show can be set as your display name, which can only be changed at the interval we set.
- A pager number goes to whoever claims it first, and it cannot be changed once claimed. Numbers already in use or reserved for operational reasons cannot be chosen. A number is not your property and cannot be transferred, lent or sold.
- You must not use an ID, display name or number that impersonates another person or is likely to be mistaken for one; we may require a change or restrict use in such cases.
- An account is for your use only and cannot be transferred, lent or sold to anyone else.
- You must look after your own Apple Account or Google Account and device. We are not liable for what follows if a third party uses your account because you neglected to do so, and if you learn that your account has been taken over you must tell us at once through the contact in Article 22.
Article 6 Provision of the Service
- We provide features such as decorating a receiver, connecting and inviting friends, sending and playing voices and pages, the payphone, the codebook, groups, voicemail, notifications, blocking and reporting, and the ppip+ subscription.
- Coins are deducted when you send a page, and they increase through the amount granted at sign-up, the daily grant, and the amount earned when you send a voice. Coins are not sold for money and are not exchanged or refunded for cash or any other property. We may change the amounts granted and deducted as operations require, and we give notice in advance of significant changes.
- We may change the content and features of the Service as operations or technical needs require, and we give notice in advance of significant changes.
- Some features of the Service may be provided only to ppip+ subscribers.
Article 7 Delivery of Signals
- Whether a signal rings right away or goes to voicemail is decided by the rules the recipient has set. Those rules are the recipient's quiet hours, daily limit, per-friend settings, whether the receiver is set down, Focus mode, and the notification permission on the device.
- We do not tell the sender why a signal went to voicemail, because doing so would reveal the recipient's settings.
- We do not guarantee that a signal actually rang out loud. The silent switch, device volume, Do Not Disturb and Focus modes, notification permissions and network conditions belong to the operating system and the device, and the Service can neither check nor control them.
- You cannot hold us liable for damage arising from a notification that did not arrive or arrived late.
Article 8 Retention of Voices and Pages
- Voices and pages are deleted together with their audio files 24 hours after they are sent, or 30 days if either the sender or the recipient is a ppip+ user. For something sent to a group, it is 30 days for everyone in the room if the sender is on ppip+; otherwise it follows each recipient's own subscription.
- If you unfriend or block someone, the voices and pages exchanged between you are deleted even if their retention period has not ended. Per-friend settings, the record of requests exchanged, and codes the two of you made together are erased as well.
- The Service is not a storage service. You cannot request the recovery of a deleted voice, and anything you want to keep must be stored by other means.
- The actual moment of deletion may come later than the expiry time, depending on the cycle of the cleanup job.
Account/relationship deletion and physical file deletion are separate steps. Queued file deletions are retried on failure. Required transaction records, report-handling records and deletion receipts are retained separately only for the purposes and periods stated in the Privacy Policy.
Article 9 Photos and Decorations
- You may attach one photo to your receiver and decorate it with stickers and lettering. This photo and these decorations are visible to your friends.
- You must only upload photos you hold the rights to or have permission to use. If a photo includes another person's face, you must have that person's consent.
- Cropping and cutting out a photo happens on your own device, and only the resulting image is stored on the server.
- Removing a photo removes it from that decoration. Files no longer referenced by other saved decorations are deleted under the Privacy Policy’s deletion procedure.
Article 10 Friends, Invites and Blocking
- One-to-one signals travel only between people connected as friends. Friendships grow by sending a request to an ID, by connecting through an invite link or QR code, or by keying someone's number into the payphone to leave a connection request.
- Dialing a number does not make you friends. The request goes to the recipient's friend request list and only connects once the recipient accepts it.
- In Settings you can turn off connection requests that come by number. With it off, friendships grow only through invite codes and QR codes. The caller always gets the same answer, so that it cannot be told apart whether the other person uses that number, has closed requests, or has blocked them.
- An invite code expires 7 days after it is issued. You should take care that an invite link does not reach someone you did not intend.
- Blocking removes each person from the other's wall, and there is no reconnecting by ID, number or invite. To the blocked side, the other person appears not to exist.
- Free users may be limited in how many friends they can connect with.
Article 11 Groups
- A group is a room for sending a signal to several people at once, and
each room is given a number starting with
02. - The condition for joining a room is being a friend of the person who made it. Members of the same room may therefore not be friends with one another, and a signal sent to the room, along with the sender's name, is visible to every member.
- An invitation to bring in a new member goes through the agreement of the existing members. Invitations expire after a certain period.
- Free users may create up to one group; creating a second or later group requires a ppip+ subscription. Inviting members and renaming a group can be done by the group's owner. Receiving group signals is provided free of charge. The group remains after its owner’s subscription ends; signal retention follows Article 8.
- Voices sent to a group have a daily count limit for free users, and group pages cost more coins. Capacities and limits may change, and we give notice in advance of significant changes.
- When someone leaves a room, their membership record is deleted; signals already delivered to the room are not recalled.
- Between people who have blocked each other, signals are not delivered even within the same room.
Article 12 No Sensitive Information
You must not leave the following kinds of information anywhere you enter into the Service — voices, photos, display names, codes, report text and everywhere else.
- Unique identifying information such as resident registration or passport numbers, and images of identity documents
- Financial information such as account or card numbers, and passwords or verification codes
- Sensitive information such as health, medical history, sex life, political views or religion
- Trade secrets or internal materials of the organization you belong to
- Third parties' personal information, such as other people's contact details or addresses
You are responsible for whatever results from entering such information.
Article 13 Reporting Infringement and Interim Measures
- If you believe your rights have been infringed (reputation, likeness, copyright, personal information and so on), you can tell us through the in-app reporting feature or the contact in Article 22.
- On receiving a report, we may temporarily block access to the content in question while we review it.
- Depending on the outcome of the review, we take the necessary measures, such as deleting the content or restricting use.
Article 14 Prohibited Conduct
You must not do any of the following.
- Recording, uploading or transmitting the objectionable content listed in Article 0
- Impersonating another person or using another person's account without authorization
- Repeatedly sending signals after the other person has made clear that they do not want them
- Working through numbers one after another to find out which users exist, or scattering connection requests across random numbers
- Making another account or taking another number in order to evade a block
- Buying or selling pager numbers or group numbers, or claiming them for the purpose of trading
- Sending signals or invites for advertising, promotion or spam
- Obtaining or increasing coins or ppip+ features by improper means
- Accessing the Service by automated means or sending a large volume of requests
- Circumventing the Service's security measures or attempting to access another person's data
- Reverse-engineering the Service or copying or distributing it without authorization
- Any other conduct that violates applicable law or infringes the rights of others
Article 15 Restriction of Use
- If you violate these Terms or applicable law, we may delete content, restrict features, suspend use and permanently suspend the account. Deleting content and suspending use temporarily may be done without prior notice, to stop the harm from spreading; permanent suspension of an account is done after we give notice of the reason, except in urgent cases.
- We may set call-count limits on some features, such as number lookup and reporting, and abnormally frequent calls may be temporarily refused.
- If you object to a measure, you may explain your case through the contact in Article 22, and we will lift the measure if we find the explanation reasonable.
Article 16 Rights in Content
- The rights in the voices, photos, decorations and codes you put into the Service belong to you.
- We may store, transmit, display and review that content to the extent needed to provide the Service, to receive and review reports, to prevent abuse, for backup and recovery, and to comply with the law, and we do not use it for any other purpose. Content that has been deleted may remain in backups until the backup cycle has passed.
- The rights in the receiver designs, stickers, typefaces and sounds the Service provides belong to us or to the rightful owners, and you may not use them outside the purpose of using the Service.
Account/relationship deletion and physical file deletion are separate steps. Queued file deletions are retried on failure. Required transaction records, report-handling records and deletion receipts are retained separately only for the purposes and periods stated in the Privacy Policy.
Article 17 ppip+ Paid Subscription
- ppip+ is an auto-renewing subscription billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is made through the account of the store you bought from (Apple Account or Google Account), and we do not receive card details.
- The subscription renews automatically unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and the renewal charge is billed within 24 hours of the end of the period. For subscriptions paid through Google Play, renewal timing and charges follow Google Play's rules.
- You can manage and cancel the subscription in the app under Settings → Manage subscription, or on your device under Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, or on Android under Google Play Store › Profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. Deleting the app alone does not cancel it.
- Deleting your account does not cancel the subscription automatically. The subscription is tied to the Apple Account or Google Account you paid with, so we cannot cancel it. If you are subscribed, that store's subscription management screen opens just before your account is deleted, and the deletion goes ahead whether or not you cancel.
- Refunds follow Apple's policies and procedures. We cannot directly refund an App Store payment; refund requests must be made to Apple. Refunds of subscriptions paid through Google Play follow Google Play's refund policies and procedures.
- We may change the subscription price and the features it provides, and we give notice in advance of any change. The terms at the time of payment apply for the subscription period already paid for.
- When a subscription is canceled or expires, ppip+ features become unavailable, and anything saved beyond the free tier may be limited in how it is shown.
Article 18 Suspension and Change of the Service
- We may temporarily suspend all or part of the Service where unavoidable, such as system maintenance, replacement or failure, loss of communications, or a natural disaster.
- We may discontinue all or part of the Service, in which case we give notice within the Service at least 30 days in advance.
- When the Service ends, your content and account information are deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy. We pay no separate compensation for the ending of a service provided free of charge, and refunds for the remaining period of a ppip+ subscription follow the process of the store you paid through (Apple or Google Play).
- The Service may be limited by outages or policy changes at the external services it depends on (Apple, Google, Supabase and others).
Article 19 Limitation of Liability
- We are not liable for damage arising from causes not attributable to us, such as natural disasters, communication failures or problems with your device.
- We do not warrant the accuracy, legality or reliability of content users put into the Service, and we are under no obligation to intervene in disputes between users. We do, however, take the measures set out in Articles 0 and 13.
- In accordance with Article 7, we do not warrant the delivery of notifications or when they arrive.
- We are not liable for voices deleted after their retention period has passed.
- We bear no liability for damages in connection with services provided free of charge, unless applicable law provides otherwise. This does not cover damage caused by our intent or gross negligence.
- Where we are liable for damages in connection with a paid service such as ppip+, that liability is limited, absent our intent or gross negligence, to the ppip+ subscription fees you paid in the 12 months before the day the damage arose.
- If we receive a claim from a third party or suffer loss because you violated these Terms or applicable law, you must indemnify us at your own cost and responsibility and make good that loss. This does not cover loss arising from causes not attributable to you.
Article 20 Account Deletion and Use by Minors
- You can delete your account at any time by deleting it in the app's settings or by asking us. The path inside the app is in section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
- Deleting your account erases your audio, photo and greeting files, the signals you exchanged, friendships and requests, group membership records, invites, your block list, registered devices, receivers, profile, pager number, coins and account, and it also disconnects Sign in with Apple. A Google sign-in connection, and the Apple sign-in connection of an account that signed in with Apple only on Android and has no refresh token, can be removed by you in your Google Account or Apple ID settings. This cannot be undone.
- Content already delivered to a friend and saved by them, and signals sent to a group, may not be recalled.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a ppip+ subscription automatically. Please see Article 17.
- Children under 14 may not use the Service. Only those aged 14 and over may sign up, and if we confirm that a child under 14 has signed up, we delete that account and its information without delay. A legal guardian may request deletion of the account through the contact in Article 22.
- If a minor has paid for ppip+ without their legal guardian's consent, the minor or the guardian may request cancellation through the refund process of the store used for payment (Apple or Google Play).
Account/relationship deletion and physical file deletion are separate steps. Queued file deletions are retried on failure. Required transaction records, report-handling records and deletion receipts are retained separately only for the purposes and periods stated in the Privacy Policy.
Article 21 Governing Law and Jurisdiction
- These Terms are interpreted under the laws of the Republic of Korea.
- If a dispute arises between us and a user in connection with use of the Service, both parties will endeavor to resolve it through good faith consultation.
- If a dispute is not resolved through consultation, the court having jurisdiction under applicable law shall be the court of first instance.
